Now Open: Grant Applications

Are you a registered environmental voluntary organisation working at the grassroots to protect, promote, and regenerate Malta’s nature? We would like to invite you to MEF’s second call for grant proposals. We are seeking to support the most impactful and effective organisations that align with our mission approach.

Grant proposals are welcome for amounts of up to €10,000, noting that we prefer not to deliver microgrants of less than €1,000. Organisations registered with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations are encouraged to submit no more than one application. Priority will be given to grassroots NGOs who have not received funding from MEF before.

Interested organisations are highly encouraged to send a short expression of interest to MEF before submitting their proposals. Expression of interests should be no longer than 1 page and can include the following information:

  1. Your organisation’s mission (or link to website)
  2. Project idea
  3. Requested budget
  4. Impact approach
  5. Contact number/email

To submit an expression of interest, for a .docx version of the application form, or for any inquiries, please reach out to us at; info@maltaenvironment.org

The grant application form can be accessed here.

Important dates

  • Expression of Interest Deadline: Tuesday 5th May 2026*
  • Application Submission Deadline: Tuesday 26th May 2026
  • Grant Announcement: End of July 2026

*By sharing a short summary of your proposal ahead of submitting a full application, we are able to guide you through the process and assess alignment with MEF’s mission.

Once we receive your Expression of Interest, we will respond within 1–2 days to confirm whether you are invited to submit a full application, along with any initial feedback. We therefore encourage early submission of Expressions of Interest to allow more time for the full application process.

We look forward to receiving your innovative and impactful proposals. Together, we can create a sustainable and vibrant future for Malta.
